Toronto Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies was taking part in a hard drill when he fell hard to the ice and couldn't get up.

Teammates crowded around and helped him off the ice

"He just kind of tweaked something," Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said.

The good news for Knies is he doesn't appear to have injured himself as badly as it looked.

Keefe said the player has not been ruled out for tomorrow's game against the New York Islanders and an update will be forthcoming following the team's optional skate at UBS Arena on Thursday.

Knies has eight goals and seven assists in 36 games this season. Nick Robertson, who was originally slated to be a healthy scratch, skated in Knies' place for the remainder of the team's practice on Wednesday
