Wednesday night's Look of the Day was a complete flop, as Kris Murray played only 22 minutes and didn't score a single point for the Portland Trail Blazers. That will teach us not to bet anything on a tanking team in the NBA.
Thankfully, the NCAA Tournament is back on the schedule, so let's head to the West Region for our favorite bet of Thursday's Sweet 16 slate.
Sorry, Alabama fans, but your NCAA Tournament run is about to end.
The Crimson Tide are a dazzling offensive team. They rank first in the country in points per game, third in three-pointers made per game and 11th in effective field-goal percentage. Bama loves to get up and down the court and force its opponents to play at a fast tempo. That strategy works against less talented teams like Charleston and Grand Canyon, but it won't go well against North Carolina.
UNC is more than comfortable playing fast, as it ranks 41st in KenPom's adjusted tempo. The Tar Heels also have the tools to exploit the Crimson Tide's weaknesses. Alabama ranks 326th in the country in offensive rebounds allowed per game, 192nd in turnovers per game and 345th in personal fouls per game. Nate Oats's squad will have no answer for Armando Bacot, who averages 3.1 offensive rebounds per game, on the glass.
North Carolina is one of the best rebounding teams in the country, so it should be able to generate a ton of second-chance points in this matchup. The Tar Heels also defend the three-point line well and limit turnovers at a top-20 rate.
All offense, no defense teams rarely make deep runs in the NCAA Tournament. The more well-rounded team should take care of business here.
